The Italian muse Erica Pelosini is not messing around – and she is not afraid of the truth.
Beloved in the fashion world, Erica Pelosini has worked with major figures in the industry such as Anna dellpo Russo, Roberto Cavalli, Patrick Demarchelier and Tim Walker. She currently lives in Los Angeles and travels the world in search of more inspiration.
Born into a prominent Italian society family and a front-row fixture at fashion weeks around the globe, the it girl and stylist, a contributor to Vogue and L’Officiel magazines, needs no introduction regarding her fashion credentials and reveals to Lifestyle her routine in Los Angeles, as well as the new hot spots of the City of Angels.
LM: Which city do you identify with the most and why? What are your favorite places in that city?
E: Los Angeles! I love how there are so many different sides to one city. I adore my home in Beverly Hills and really enjoy spending the weekend in Malibu or going shopping at the ever-vintage Topanga Canyon. Riding a bike in Venice Beach and savoring some drinks in Silver Lake are also activities I would recommend. Those who work in the studios in Downtown or Hollywood can experience a more business side of the city, and disconnect from all of that during a brunch in Bel Air. Each region of Los Angeles is a world apart. Now, if the question is to list my favorite spots, I’d start with Alfred, a coffee shop on Melrose Place, where I can enjoy a delicious almond cappuccino and a fresh croissant — I feel like I’m in Europe! On Sundays I make a point of visiting the Farmers Market on Melrose Place with my husband. I buy the fruits and vegetables for the week there! Another place I visit very often is Nobu Malibu, the perfect setting to enjoy a Sunday brunch with an ocean view. The Polo Lounge is an institution — and often my office too. Try the McCartney salad! For a special dinner, my choice is Gjelina, in Venice: an organic restaurant with a small garden and a fireplace, one of the most sought-after spots on Abbott Kinney Blvd. By the way, I’m super excited to check out the new Soho Malibu House!
LM: Which products do you use for facial care? What is your beauty routine?
E: I love aesthetic products: face creams, masks and any other product by dermatologist Dr. Colbert. His hydrating mask is amazing and keeps my skin fresh after a full day or a long flight. I don’t wear much makeup, unless I’m going to an event — I only make sure to keep my eyebrows shaped by the Anastasia Beverly Hills team.
LM: What is your favorite outfit right now?
E: I’m in love with the shoes designer Brian Atwood gave me as a gift. They are the perfect sandals to wear with a Pucci dress on a boat, or with a Valentino dress for a red carpet event!
LM: Is there a brand that has been passed down from generation to generation in your family?
E: Louis Vuitton. My grandfather was the designer of the brand’s first stores! Because of that, I have a ton of vintage luggage.
LM: What is your exercise routine?
E: I’ve never seriously practiced exercise. In Florence, I rode horses for leisure — but my father competed in equestrian events. In Paris, I felt that wandering the city was my gym. Now that I live in Los Angeles, I take part in different types of hikes and love walking barefoot on the sands. When my schedule allows, I also dance at Ballet Bar, at Body by Simone!
LM: Who is your greatest inspiration?
E: My family.
LM: Which museums and galleries are unmissable, in your opinion?
E: I love the LACMA Museum, with which I recently collaborated on a very special project. I think the Venice Biennale, where art from around the world is shown in one of the most evocative settings, is unmissable.
LM: Keep calm and ….?
E: Things will happen.
LM: What is your favorite saying?
E: The miracle of surprise is preserved in life.
