It is in the vineyards of the Hamptons that Joey Wölffer’s restless soul expresses itself in the form of wine, art, and connection

In the sun-drenched fields of Sagaponack, where the Atlantic breeze whispers ancient stories among well-tended vines, Joey Wölffer cultivates more than grapes: she cultivates memory, purpose, and a rare sensitivity. As brand director and co-owner of Wölffer Estate Vineyard, she is the creative soul of a property that pulses with authenticity—a refuge where time dissolves in the scent of lavender and in the rosé that colors the late afternoons.

Founded in 1988 by her father, Christian Wölffer—a visionary entrepreneur passionate about the art of living well—Wölffer Estate was born from the desire to unite European lifestyle with the American spirit, in a vineyard that would celebrate refined hedonism and connection with nature. Located in Sagaponack, in the heart of the Hamptons, the place reflected his vision of rustic elegance and sophisticated freedom. It was on this solid and inspiring foundation that Joey grew up, absorbing—even unconsciously—the values of expression, authenticity, and beauty in every gesture.

Daughter of an English mother and born in New York, Joey discovered her true nature when, at ten years old, her family left the city and settled in the countryside. “Nature saved me,” she says, with the certainty of someone who found her true north in the countryside. It was among trees, silence, and a vibrant community that she understood the value of belonging and time—ingredients that shape everything she creates.

After graduating from Vanderbilt University in 2004, Joey moved to London, where she worked in jewelry design, and later served as trend director at Jones Apparel Group in the United States. But her first original creation sprang from a desire to break molds and bring beauty in an unexpected form: the Styleliner, a boutique on wheels launched in 2010 inside an old potato truck.

With a refined curation, the Styleliner brought unique pieces, handcrafted accessories, and small treasures to various cities, offering a sensory and itinerant experience. More than fashion, it was an invitation to discovery—and to connection. Instead of imposing storefronts, genuine conversations. Instead of conventional luxury, soul. The concept quickly drew attention for its originality and free spirit, anticipating the desire for more human experiences in fashion consumption.

Over time, the project gained momentum and turned into a brick-and-mortar store in New York. But true to her intuition, Joey realized that that space no longer reflected her truth. “When something loses its soul, it’s time to let it go,” she says. Just as she closed the doors of the Styleliner, she knew how to make room for something greater—something rooted, connected to her essence.

“When something loses its soul, it’s time to let it go,” she says.

It was alongside her brother Marc and her husband Max Rohn (today the winery’s CEO) that she took the reins of Wölffer Estate, determined to preserve her father’s legacy while at the same time expanding it with her own language. Under her leadership, projects like Summer in a Bottle were born, a fresh and vibrant rosé that quickly became the symbol of a light and authentic lifestyle—today, one of the most consumed bottles during the American summer.

More than a wine, Joey delivers an atmosphere: afternoons of outdoor music, film screenings among the vines, and gatherings that celebrate the senses have turned Wölffer Estate into one of the most sought-after places in the Hamptons during peak season. She is today one of the voices defining the region’s relaxed yet sophisticated charm, with a signature that naturally combines country and elegance.

Her vision is intuitive. She believes that to grow doesn’t have to mean losing one’s identity—and she proves it with each new chapter of her journey. Everything she creates carries soul, purpose, and truth.

Beyond wine and fashion, Joey is an amateur equestrian and participates in horse-riding competitions. “When I’m riding, I feel immediately happy,” she says. For her, horses teach resilience, listening, and presence—values she also strives to pass on to her daughters. A mother of two girls, she raises them with empathy, truth, and affection. “They have huge hearts and also my fighting spirit,” she says, with quiet pride.

Among the projects that move her most are her support for the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center and her seat on the board of the FEED Foundation. “I am most proud of what I do for others. That is the legacy I want to leave.”

And behind the figure of the successful businesswoman and warm hostess who welcomes with natural elegance in the winery’s gardens, there is a fun woman full of contrasts. Joey confesses her love for French fries and rap—Eminem and Lorde are always on her playlist. She also holds a special affection for Morocco, where she got engaged and celebrated her 40th birthday.

Other curiosities reveal even more of her essence: Joey is obsessed with uncomplicated flower arrangements, loves walking barefoot through the vineyards at dusk, and secretly dreams of living and working in an orphanage in Africa—where she believes she could practice a more direct, more transformative form of love.

Sagaponack is her root. The world, her studio. Between past and future, countryside and creation, Joey Wölffer continues shaping a legacy that is written with steady hands and an open heart. She inherited not only land—but a vision, which she is gradually transforming into something unique, her own. Where every bottle, every gesture, every word, is an ode to the beauty of living with intention.
