The haven of elegance: Legendary hotel in Capri celebrates Italian creativity
Handmade and tailor-made collaborations signed by top local and international designers
The Hotel La Palma, the latest venture by the renowned Oetker Collection in Italy, emerges as a landmark of elegance and sophistication on Italian soil. This jewel of hospitality, which opened its doors in June 2023, represents a complete transformation of Capri’s oldest hotel, formerly known as Locanda Pagano, dating back to 1822. Its privileged location, just steps from the iconic Piazzetta, places it at the epicenter of the island’s social scene.
With 50 impeccably decorated rooms, Hotel La Palma offers an unparalleled lodging experience. Featuring vibrant restaurants, a lively private beach club, a terrace and pool bar, as well as a relaxing spa, the hotel invites guests to explore the authenticity and sophistication of the island of Capri.
To celebrate its opening, Hotel La Palma teamed up with Gianluca Longo, Italian style and décor editor, to launch a series of bespoke collaborations that capture the best of Italian artisanal luxury. Longo described this initiative as “an inspiring emporium of all things uniquely and precious Italian, with a focus on craftsmanship, where each item embodies the spirit of the island and radiates joy.”
The exclusive collection features items from local brands originating in various Italian regions, as well as renowned national and international labels, all inspired by the color palette of Hotel La Palma’s interior design and the island of Capri’s effortlessly chic style.
Among the highlights of the collection are Aquazzura’s stunning sandals, designed by Edgardo Osorio, which combine innovative design and vibrant color palettes, reflecting the palm-print motif inspired by the hotel. La Double J, from Milan and founded by JJ Martin, created an elegant ensemble of clothing and a bandana with a custom pattern inspired by the property. The iconic Panizza 1879 hats, from Ghiffa on the shores of Lake Maggiore, are emblematic of traditional Italian craftsmanship.
Additionally, Emilia Burano, famous for Burano lace, produced impeccable tablecloths, while Farella Capri, a local knitwear company, designed a delicate cashmere shawl. Pier Sicilia, sustainable and ethical, created a tote bag and men’s shorts in Capri’s signature colors. Allegra Hicks, the renowned Anglo-Italian stylist, introduced a line of exclusive sarongs and scarves for the hotel. The historic Fenili buttons gave life to a unique backgammon set in mother-of-pearl and gold.
The collection also includes handcrafted jewelry by Shelly Zucker and printed cushions by Roman designer Chiara Grifantini. The iconic Marinella, from Naples, designed handmade products, including a silk cardholder and elegant tiaras. Gae L., from Puglia, with its embroidery art, created delicate coasters, while the Milan-based Laboratorio Paravicini developed sophisticated porcelain saucers and trays.
