A conversation about personal life, social media and plans for the future.
Authenticity, transparency and focus. These are the principles of success chosen by Helena Silvarolli to live in the offline and online worlds. Born and raised in the city of São Paulo, the 27-year-old influencer already has over 130,000 followers on Instagram doing what she loves: sharing content about beauty, fashion, gastronomy and travel in a unique and genuine way
Although her work with social media began only four years ago, Silvarolli has always considered herself a communicative and spontaneous person, and these traits further prove her success on Instagram.
Lifestyle Mag: Starting with the basics: what’s your date of birth? Where are you from? Where you did you grow up?
Helena Silvarolli: I was born on April 20, 1995, in the city of São Paulo, where I grew up and still live today.
“I post what I believe in, consume what I like, and would never recommend something that doesn’t make sense to me. It’s a huge responsibility to influence thousands of people, because they trust you. “
LM: What was your process of becoming an influencer like? When did you start doing this professionally? Did you imagine you would have thousands of followers?
HS: My process of becoming an influencer was very natural, I never would have imagined this would happen when I started. I have a degree in Advertising and Publicity from FAAP and, since college, I’ve always been very communicative, that person who wasn’t shy about presenting and loved speaking to the class, enjoyed exchanges, tips and advice.
I started on Instagram very organically, sharing my daily life without a script, and this ended up attracting people, making them ask me for opinions and suggestions on various topics such as beauty, fashion, gastronomy and travel. At the same time, the brands also began reaching out to me because they saw this direct connection I have with my audience.
In the beginning, everything was very new and I started this work on my own, four years ago. I never imagined I would have my current followers and that they would build such a loyal community with me.
LM: We’ve seen social media and user behavior change a lot in recent years, what has this evolution been like for you?
HS: Content creators and the audience need to understand that authenticity and consistency are the key to building a career in the digital influence market.
People ended up being carried away by immediacy, wanting success and an audience by yesterday, and that’s not how it works. You can’t expect to grow overnight; things need to be very well worked out.
The main trend in recent years has been an appreciation for the natural, when you, as an influencer, can truly represent an audience and engage with them in an honest and captivating way.
LM: In three words or in one sentence, how would you describe your principles of success?
HS: Authenticity, transparency and focus.
LM: What do you do to stay relaxed, calm and in control during stressful moments?
HS: Like anyone else, difficult moments arise and it’s hard to always stay in control. When I’m in a bad situation, I hold on to the values my mother taught me, to believe that everything will work out and to be a positive person. Sometimes I go to church, and I set aside part of my day to eat something tasty.
This is important to break the stress loop, because the more stressed you are, the worse the situation becomes. We need to learn to deal with obstacles, take a deep breath and take care of ourselves. Nothing is the end of the world and we can always recover.
LM: What are your hobbies to relax after a long day of work?
HS: I like to take a good hot bath, apply essential oils, have some tea, and watch a series or movie that distracts me. It’s a simple ritual I have that makes all the difference in my routine.
LM: What automatically puts you in a good mood?
HS: Eating what I like and being with my family are always two things that instantly lift my spirits.
LM: What’s your favorite thing to cook for yourself?
HS: My culinary skills aren’t anything too complex. I love simple things, especially for breakfast, when I make tapioca or start my day with warm cheese bread. And, modestly speaking, I also love my fondue!
LM: For you, what are the best places in São Paulo for dinner, breakfast and lunch?
HS: The perfect breakfast in São Paulo is at Santo Grão or Pão de Queijo Haddock Lobo. For lunch, La Tambouille and Rodeio are my favorite options. As for dinner, I’m in love with Bottega Bernacca and Gero in the Jardins neighborhood.
LM: Our readers love a good travel guide. What are your top five restaurants in Paris? 5 favorite spots in New York? 5 must-see attractions in the Maldives?
HS:
Paris:
New York
The Maldives
LM: Finally, what’s your biggest dream that you haven’t fulfilled yet?
HS: I want to keep working hard and building my family. My biggest dream is to become a mother, even though it’s not a plan for now. You can look forward to it happening in a few years!
