It was in an informal conversation that, in 2018, friends from the British St. Paul’s School, Marco Fragali and Gianlucca Nahas, founded FlyBy Viagens. Selected for Forbes Under 30 in 2021, in the Retail & E-commerce category, the company’s business model is to provide exclusive, personalized, and secure service to clients seeking the best price in Business Class with up to a 50% discount, for various national and international destinations.

As the leader in selling air tickets in this class, it recorded revenue of R$ 118 million and the sale of more than 23,000 seats throughout 2022. The billed volume represents an increase of 51.28% compared to 2021. In ticket units, this growth was 40% over the period. In 2022 alone, the most sought-after destinations were Miami and Berlin. In the previous year, 2021, New York and Los Angeles topped passenger preferences.

The average fare of tickets sold by FlyBy can reach 50% of the price advertised by airlines. Previously offered only with miles or miles plus cash, the seats can now also be purchased by those who don’t want to use loyalty program points.

“No início, comprávamos milhas parceladas no cartão de crédito e vendíamos passagens a vista. Assim, juntamos dinheiro para expandir e foi com essa lógica que conseguimos faturar R$ 500 mil ao mês", lembra Fragali.

According to a survey by the Brazilian Association of Companies in the Loyalty Market (ABEMF), in 2021 there was a 35.4% growth in the buying and selling of points accumulated in loyalty programs, totaling 22.4 million transactions. This volume surpassed that of 2019, when growth was 9%. In 2020 and 2021, a period in which the tourism industry faced its main crisis, FlyBy’s operations grew 30% per month, aided by the sharp rise in ticket prices.

FlyBy Viagens’ Plan for 2023:

For 2023, the company’s goal is to double in size, with new plans and projects aimed at the hotel sector. To this end, it has launched another front: the sale of accommodation packages in “four-star and above” hotels, a faster and more comprehensive strategy for its clients to enjoy all the benefits in the best possible way. A complete package with many advantages.

The estimate for this new project is that this operation alone will represent more than R$ 60 million in annual revenue.

“Em muito pouco tempo, o volume de faturamento em hotéis deve se igualar ao de passagens vendidas dado o próprio tíquete médio ser maior se pensarmos em uma viagem de férias em família, ou mesmo em casal, de 10 a 15 dias”, afirma Fragali. “No futuro, provavelmente vamos virar uma agência de viagens completa, mas só com o aéreo focado no modelo de milhas”, completa.
