Lifestyle Mag: How did you discover your passion for acting?

Elena Goode: I’ve always been interested in people and their experiences. I loved listening to stories and bringing them to life, and as a result, I was drawn to theater. Fortunately, the public schools I attended had arts programs that allowed me to explore my passion from an early age.

LM: Pretty Little Liars carries many years of history and has a huge fanbase. How do you feel about being part of this new phase of the series?

EG: Being part of this new chapter is so exciting! Pretty Little Liars captured a moment in time, and it’s a joy to contribute to this new installment. The style and vibe of Pretty Little Liars Original Sin are so relevant. I can’t wait to see the fans’ reactions!

LM: Is there anything you have in common with Marjorie?

EG: Marjorie is complex, fearless, and yet fearful—I relate to that contrast in my own life. She never gives up; she’s persistent even when all hope seems lost. Likewise, once I set my mind on something, no matter the obstacles, I refuse to quit.

LM: How have the first days been since the series premiered?

EG: Very rewarding and surreal! I’m in a group chat with some of the cast, and we’ve been constantly sharing our excitement about the premiere. We worked together for almost nine months and formed close friendships, so we’re all thrilled for one another. Seeing the final product is as fun for us as it is for the fans!

LM: You’ve gained extensive experience working in different films and series. How did they prepare you to portray this character?

EG: My past experiences taught me to approach each role with fresh eyes and to trust my personal insight about the character. That allows me to work without expectation or pressure, so I can fully immerse myself in who Marjorie is and what feels true for her.

LM: How did your passion for marine life and the sea come about?

EG: For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt connected to the ocean. As a child, I loved biking along the shoreline. Even though New York is one of the world’s largest cities, to me it felt like an island. In summer, my family vacationed on the Jersey Shore. Some of my most precious memories are collecting seashells and watching dolphins with my cousins. I’ve always felt at home by the sea.

LM: Why do you think it’s important for society to talk about this topic?

EG: The Earth sustains all life. I find a deeper, simpler part of myself when I take a moment to feel the Earth beneath my feet. In a society where many experience various forms of separation, I believe the Earth is always trying to remind us that everything is interrelated, interdependent, and connected.

LM: What was your childhood like? Growing up with siblings or cousins?

EG: I’m an only child. My parents made sure I grew up with a close relationship to my aunts, uncles, and cousins. My cousins are like siblings to me. Growing up in NYC was so much fun—I had many unique experiences; the city is full of sounds, diversity, and culture.

LM: What was your favorite hobby as a child?

EG: Riding roller coasters was so much fun! Although I’m not as drawn to them anymore, these days I love skydiving.

LM: And now, what do you usually do in your free time?

EG: I’m a very active person. In my free time, I love swimming, hiking, climbing—anything outdoors. I’d also like to revisit passions like salsa dancing.

LM: Is there any habit in your life you never give up?

EG: Learning new things and exercising—I intend to stay active until my last days.

I will never give up the habit of exploring and seizing every opportunity to try something new. As the saying goes, the only constant is change; every time I read a new book or learn a new skill, I feel alive.

LM: What’s your favorite part of the day? And why?

EG: 12 PM, LUNCH! I love a big lunch, especially if it’s a burrito!

LM: What are your favorite song, book, and movie?

EG: There are so many songs to choose from. “Aguanile,” Marc Anthony’s live version, gives me chills and reminds me of Puerto Rico. And “528 HZ Anxiety Cleanse” by Emiliano Bruguera—the vibration is so relaxing.

“The Fifth Agreement” by Don Miguel Ruiz is my favorite book because it shares universal wisdom that can be applied to everyday life.

As for film, “Frida,” produced by and starring Salma Hayek. This movie made her the first Mexican actress nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress; it inspired me as an artist and a Latina. Her performance and boldness captivated me! Documentary—“14 Peaks.” I love documentaries about athletes scaling great heights. “14 Peaks” takes viewers on a record-breaking journey that finally gives voice to the mountains’ unsung heroes, the sherpas and native climbers.

LM: And finally, what are your hopes and wishes for your life and career once the series airs?

EG: For my life—and for everyone’s—I wish joy, adventure, and peace. For my career, I hope to continue working with inspiring actors and directors. I want to keep portraying interesting and complex characters. I’m really enjoying this moment!
