There are countless factors that make Trancoso a unique and sought-after destination for people around the world. Beautiful beaches, transformative cultural experiences, breathtaking inns and hotels, as well as plenty of great food, are just some of them.
Considered a charming paradise by those who visit, the district located about a 50-minute drive from Porto Seguro is more than recommended if you’re looking for a captivating, stunning, and unforgettable place for your trip.
Like many who visit and soon return to Trancoso, entrepreneur and UMAUMA co-founder Bruno Dias is a fan of the town, and shares with us here a complete Trancoso Guide with everything you need to know before packing your bags.
Where to stay
Trancoso is a destination offering excellent accommodations for all budgets and tastes; there are great houses in condominium developments, the most famous being Altos de Trancoso, Pedro Grande, and Terra Vista. In addition, there are charming and stunning houses in the Quadrado region, such as Twee. And of course, trendy hotels like Estrela d’Agua and the newly opened Fasano.

How to get there
Since Porto Seguro is only about a 50-minute drive away, that’s where the nearest airport is located. You can rent a car there to reach your destination. However, for private flights, you can land at the Terravista Airport, which is already in Trancoso.
Best restaurants
Trancoso’s gastronomy is one of the village’s highlights; the main restaurants are located in the Quadrado, such as Capim Santo, O Cacau, Jacaré and the newly opened Flo. And right at the entrance of the Quadrado there are two incredible pizza options: Maritaca and Bem Te Vi. You also have to check out Floresta, a lunch restaurant set in the middle of the rubber forest—don’t forget to order the Rosé Voilà wine.
What to do
To spend the day at the beach, it’s worth going to Pousada Estrela d’Agua and dining at its Playa restaurant. At Praia das Tartarugas, having lunch at the restaurant perched atop the cliff, with its incredible view, is always a good option. The Cabana do Zé Barbudo is also a great choice for a day by the sea and a relaxed lunch. And of course, the newly opened Hotel Fasano not only offers excellent cuisine but is located on Praia de Itapororoca, a more secluded beach.
A perfect day
I believe that today Trancoso offers a full 360° experience: easy yet private access, stunning beaches, excellent lodging in both houses and hotels, incredible cuisine, the charm of the Quadrado, and, of course, an amazing lineup of the country’s top New Year’s Eve parties at the end of the year.
If you still haven’t been to Trancoso, don’t waste any time—your experience will be incredibly memorable.
