LM: How did your work as an influencer start?

SM: My work as an influencer started in a natural and organic way! I began posting on Instagram about my routine, my workouts, my diet, travels—everything in a very unpretentious manner! At the time, I was working at a scenography company in the commercial department and never imagined doing anything else! Then I became a mother and decided to “change” jobs to have more time for my children! That’s when I decided to professionalize my Instagram, since it was something I already did and loved. And that’s how it all began…

LM: What has surprised you the most about working as an influencer so far?

SM: To this day, what surprises me most, without a doubt, is how my work, my posts, my choices, my tips, my lifestyle and everything I share on my social media can reach people in the most varied ways and often create impact and transformation for those watching! This, beyond surprising me, becomes motivating! The possibility of positively influencing people’s lives is amazing and carries a huge responsibility!

LM: In one sentence, how would you describe your life principles?

SM: The love and respect I feel for my life, my story, my family and my work make me get up every day with great humility, ready to learn everything that helps me grow, brings me balance and allows me to follow my path with responsibility and honesty.

LM: How do you divide yourself between mother, wife and entrepreneur?

SM: I don’t know haha (just kidding). This is one of the questions I get asked the most! What works for me is setting priorities! So there are days when I’m more mom, other days when I’m more wife, and other days when I’m the most focused professional in the world! And many days I’m not in the mood to be anything! Haha That happens too, right? For someone juggling thousands of roles—like most women today—organization is the key to success! But even with planning and priorities, things mix together and that’s when the plates start to drop! And that’s OK! Understanding that you don’t have to manage everything at once is already a huge step!

LM: Is there any habit in your routine you won’t give up?

SM: I have a few habits I won’t give up! The first and most important one is getting up every day and giving thanks for another day—for being healthy and for my family! I always believe the first thoughts of the day will shape the rest of it. After that, I begin my healthy habits routine, always starting my days with exercise!

LM: What has been the biggest challenge and lesson you’ve learned on this journey?

SM: Oh, there have been so many… But I’ll mention a few! I learned that I control nothing! That I can always try again! That even the hardest moments have a silver lining! That it’s impossible to please everyone! And that time heals (almost) everything! As for challenges… I believe they’re closely tied to life stages, and there are challenges to be overcome in every area of life. So I’ll list a few: overcoming a separation, running a marathon with an autoimmune condition, and reinventing myself professionally.

LM: How did sport help you overcome the psychological pressure when you were on the brink of burnout?

SM: My relationship with sport is one of gratitude! Gratitude for finding something I love to do that does me so much good—relieving my pains (I live with an autoimmune condition) and allowing me to unload all the day-to-day stress and pressure! In sport, specifically in running, I found my escape valve and daily therapy! In 2018, just before a burnout and about to be medicated, I signed up for a marathon—the hardest one I’ve ever done—and after months of dedication, training and focus, I finished that race “cured” and feeling lighter!

LM: What advice would you give to women seeking balance in their routines amid so many commitments and responsibilities?

SM: Don’t blame yourself! There’s no Wonder Woman! It’s okay not to handle everything! Letting a few plates drop is part of it! It’s impossible to be balanced all the time! And don’t give up!

LM: Your three favorite destinations in the world and where to stay, eat and shop in each.

SM: This one’s easy! haha.

1. Stay – Miami

2. Eat – Italy

3. Shop – Dubai
